The Wells Cornwall Lost
The Cornwall Democratic Committee has been digging through decades of Town Board minutes, local reporting and environmental records to examine a major unfinished matter from Helen Bunt’s time as town supervisor—and what her record tells us about leadership, follow-through and accountability.
In 1999, Cornwall unanimously voted to pursue a potentially significant water system in Mountainville. Helen Bunt voted yes. Months later, under her administration, the town attorney said the acquisition was moving forward.
Cornwall never secured it.
What happened? Why wasn’t the acquisition completed? Where did the wells end up? And what does this history tell us about the leadership Cornwall needs today?
We’ll examine the evidence in a new four-part, fully sourced series.
