2019 Women’s March in Albany

  • West Capitol Park, State Street Albany, New York 12210 (map)

The 2019 Women’s March in Albany will take place on January 19, 2019. While we are still determining the exact route, we are partnering with the Healthcare Education Project and several other prominent organizations, to lead a march that is both powerful and inspirational.

We will begin first with a 25-30 minute marching procession from Jennings Landing up to West Capitol Park. Marchers will begin mobilizing at approximately 11:50 am and will be directed across the Pedestrian Bridge. Individuals can take either the stairs or elevator to the street level on Broadway.

From Broadway the procession will then by led by Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan, co-founders of the Women's Empowerment Conference and March Castina Charles and Edith Simpson, Dr. Aliyah Saeed, Monica Miranda, Kymlee Dorsey, and Ang Morris

We recommend people begin arriving between 11:00 am to 11:45 am in order to find available parking.

Following the march, we will hear from a few prominent figures from the capital region. Musical performances will be by the awesome band SIRSY.

RSVP for the March here (Event is FREE - we just need folks to RSVP to get an accurate estimate of how many people will be attending)

PARKING
There are a number of parking options available for this march. Individuals have to choose whether they wish to park at the march starting point (Jennings Landing) and then walk back down for your car after the rally, or park at the rally site, (West Capitol Park), and then walk down to Jennings Landing to be at the march starting point. There are also various parking sites along the route.

Jennings Landing -- Starting Point
There are ten spots at Jennings Landing entrance, south of the Pedestrian Bridge. “Event Parking” has around twenty spots next to Jennings Landing, entrance on north end
Riverfront Garage is free on weekends and is directly opposite of Jennings Landing , however you will have to take the Pedestrian Bridge to get to Jennings Landing – or wait at Broadway. Columbia Street parking is next to Riverfront, so you will also have to cross the bridge or wait at Broadway.

West Capitol Park -- Rally Site
Individuals can park on the street parking surrounding West Capitol or at the Egg or Empire Plaza Parking.

Additional Parking
Additional parking can be found at Orange Street, several blocks north of Riverfront Garage and at Albany Parking Authority several blocks north of Orange Street. There are also spots near Broadway and State intersection, one to two blocks west up state street.
